About Charral Izhiman
Charral Izhiman is a senior marketing leader and author of THE MARKETING MOVEMENT, a book that puts people at the heart of marketing leadership. Charral is passionate about translating complex ideas into plain English and uses relatable analogies that make her work accessible to everyone.
She draws on her expertise in communication, people and change to address how marketing is often undervalued and misaligned. She wrote this book to help leaders view marketing as a business force and shape it for greater impact.
The idea of a ‘movement’ reflects both the change required to shift outdated perceptions and the collective momentum created when people, inside and outside the business, are aligned and activated by marketing as a true driver of value. When people are mobilised and inspired, great things take shape in the real world.
She developed the SHAPE framework, a simple five-pillar model woven throughout the book, leaving readers with a clear realisation: none can be overlooked if marketing is to be strong and future-ready. The book concludes with the Movement Readiness Index (MRI), a practical tool that gives leaders an honest view of their current state and clear direction for their next quarter Moves.
A storyteller and often described as a third-culture kid, her views are inspired by growing up and working in multicultural environments. British-born and a long-term expat, she lives in a global melting pot that has sharpened her ability to read people, transcend cultures, and spot communication gaps that can hold teams back. These observations have shaped her perspective and fuelled her use of universal language through analogies that resonate across audiences.
With a background in Computer Information Systems, she gained a grounding in technology and systems thinking that underpins her focus on digital fluency. She champions the intersection of technology and creativity, a theme she explores in her book. She advocates using technology, including AI, responsibly and for good, with governance in place to safely support the creativity and innovation of individuals who seek to bring greater value and purpose to the world.
Rather than attempting to predict the future, Charral highlights three forces shaping marketing that must be kept in balance: people, purpose, and technology. To truly shape the future with intent, she believes we must be fluent not only in digital but also in people.
She has worked across multiple industries, both agency and in-house roles, with early experience in sales, customer service, internal communications, training and change management, giving her a whole-system view and a deep appreciation for frontline roles. Her leadership spans end-to-end experience in brand transformation and go-to-market strategies, always with a focus on aligning people, positioning, and execution to create meaningful impact. Above all, she champions marketing as a people-powered movement that unites purpose and technology to drive growth that lasts.
